everything in excel is very easy to learn, but only while using Macro and Micro features, i had found a little bit of difficulties. but using the help button itself, the same can be resolved within few minutes. the total features in excel in overwhelming and i feel like that i have been using only less than 20% of the total features of excel.

Every cell in my workbook can be filled with a colour of my choice. This helps me highlight important data from the rest or improve the plain white background design.

When using Microsoft Excel on my mobile device, even though dark mode can be activated to change the theme of the app, the workbook itself can't change to black with white text. This affects my eyesight when working at night and the only way to fix this is my highlighting every cell and manually changing the colour of it from white to black. After this is done, the text in every cell has to be changed to white in order to contrast the black background.

For decades Excel was the only way to go. Its ability to utilize formulas to create the documentation we needed was invaluable.

It is clunky and hard to intuit for novice users. I have always had to impose upon other users to set my sheets up to do what I wanted to do.

Excel is one of those programs that has every spreadsheet tool you could ever imagine and if you can't imagine it someone else probably has. The amount of functionality built into Excel would definitely be one of its most desirable features. Each iteration of Excel also integrates more of the commonly used tools that get developed by both Microsoft and the community of users and businesses built around it.

Major changes between releases caused some friction, but this generally was centered on the user interface. Compatibility could always be managed. Working with charts was difficult early on, but this has also been greatly improved over time. It is difficult to come up with much when this software receives so much attention from its developers to make it meet the users' needs.

The toolbars are organized well and it makes putting "sheets" together a bit easier. If math is required or some type of organization, you need to simply put in formulas. There are templates for many things projects you may have and the formulas are already there. If you start from scratch, you get those formulas are in, then it's a cakewalk from there. I haven't had a single issue where the program stops responding or a file can't be opened which is a huge plus.

There's a learning curve for sure as you do need to know your way around if you don't have some type of base knowledge. Again, you can use templates but that can't always save you and you'll spend an eternity trying to get what you need done. The cool thing is you can find free files online using good ol' google for a project you want to complete where the formulas are done for you.

I just love this app. I know how great it hold some features. I have been using it since last 13 years. During my academics i just used it for Data management but now i can play with data like my all content task and link can be stored and can be accessed globally.

Nothing as such just Microsoft should give free version of it.

For making charting and for easy to use all calculations

I personally feel the macros to be easy apply to make more related to calculate enteir projects more easily.

Easy to use and sorting data. Self taught this program years ago and have used it on a daily basis ever since.

Sometimes formulas can be a little tricky. Especially when using multiple sheets.

I can easily create and follow tables. The ability to use formulas in Excel makes my work very easy.

I don't have a negative opinion about this application.

I love that you can basically do anything with it! The cell and functions feature really opens up a world of possibilities! Practically could build an app with it!

It can be a bit complex and hard to relocate things a second time around... even third or fourth time! But the help feature makes it a simple fix.

Microsoft excel arranges data or information in an orderly and logical manner which makes easier for analysis. Through the use of excel spreadsheet it will be easier for analysts to carry out extensive analysis the use of advanced excel functions such as CHOOSE function (used in financial modelling for scenario analysis and SUMIF and COUNTIF used when dealing with huge amount of data.
Excel is also used to build nice charts and tables such as bar graphs, pie charts and pivot tables. It is also used in trend analysis and regression and correlation analysis. The other general advantage of Microsoft excel is that it helps analysts to make use of other software such as SPSS and Eviews.

The main disadvantage of excel is that it needs more time and attention for practice for the analyst to fully benefit from it. There is a problem of garbage in garbage out because of human error such as ommited negative signs and incorrect arrangement of rows may not be harmful but when they erode investor trust or cause a loss of investment opportunity. The other con of excel is that it contains several functions which needs time for an analyst to learn.

Excel is a tool that I have always liked because in addition to presenting a pretty nice design in its latest versions, its features allow you to take thousands of benefits, from list of products with prices, to generating lists of nominees to know how much you should charge each month, these applications can even be optimized through its powerful tool such as MACROS, which allows us to apply programming to optimize processes that must be performed very frequently. We can not let go that allows us to generate accounts reports to our liking, allowing the possibility of using the graphics that best fit for our presentation, this just to mention one of its valuable applications. The reality Excel has become a valuable tool for many processes within a company, since their applications are endless. Its simplicity to handle it makes that anyone with a little practice can handle it quickly

The tool has evolved a lot, providing many advantages today that make it have few negative details, so I think that although it can still improve, I do not see very negative things that should be highlighted.

I often need to do financial projections as part of my work, as well as organizing lists, information about different events that are being organized, structuring new projects that are being undertaken, and various other calculations that just need to happen in the course of my business, on a day-to-day basis. In other words, its fair to say that I basically "live" in Excel. The thing I love most about this tool is just how much you can do with it, when you take the time to really understand how to use it. Excel is simple enough to use as a place to keep a list of people who are coming to an event organized, and complex enough basically act like a mini database. The flexibility to use a single tool in so many different ways is one of my favorite things about this software.

Even though I've used this software for many many years, probably a decade or more, and most people regard me as an expert in it, there's still functions and applications of it that I haven't yet mastered. There's so much going on under the hood that it's next to impossible to know absolutely every single function that this piece of software can accomplish for you. Which means that if I'm trying to do something a little bit more complex than my usual activities, and I need to stretch my own limits on what I know how to do with the software, I can often lose an hour or two hunting for how-to guides and videos on the internet to make sure that I get the result I really want. However, once I get it, I've just added another tool to my toolbox that continues to make the software even more powerful. So, all in all, even that is time well spent, in my opinion.

Use the conditional format

Excel users can format their spreadsheets using different color tones, bold and italic, to differentiate between the columns and bring the most important data to the front. This function can be useful in the presentation of accounting information, such as the benefit before taxes and the balance that will be transferred by the company. Users can select an appropriate color scheme using the quick analysis button, and then by using the Format tab.

Help identify trends

When presenting the data in the form of tables or graphs, it may be useful to include middle lines, which explicitly detail the key trends that emerge from the information. This can help demonstrate key points to other users in a direct way - for example, an executive from a different department during a board meeting. Excel allows trend lines to extend beyond the graph, to provide predictions of activity in the future - and such forecasts can help companies develop their future strategy.

Collect data

Excel can be used to carry information from different files and documents together, so it exists in one place. As well as raw data and information from other spreadsheets, it is possible to import text and images. Other objects can be added using the Insert tab, spreadsheets or they can be added to the file.

Easy to use. From basic to next level functions, you don't have to be a computer whiz to figure it out. If you ever have a question, search the help function. If you want to do something complex and don't want to read help article after help article, just google it. Everyone uses excel, or at least they should, and someone out there has done what you are trying to do. Simple design. I do not need fancy graphics and displays when I am trying to accomplish a task...I just want to get my job done. Excel is a hit for me. Straight and to the point. Capable of so much more than you could ever imagine.

If there is something missing from Excel, I haven't found it. In fact, I think you would have to be an engineer to find something that excel cannot do for you. It's not going to build you a website and it likely can't do your taxes for you (at least not out of the box); but if data is your world, if organization is your world, and excel can't help you accomplish the task, you probably shouldn't be using a computer at all. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Microsoft Excel has great functionality and can do a great diversity of tasks from simple math to complex data tracking tools. My two favorite functions of Excel include IF/THEN functionality and the ability to sort. The IF/THEN function is especially useful because if it's broad applications. For example if I had a two columns across the top with the categories "Name" and "Paid?" then I can make it so that my spread sheet would turn a persons name red if the response in the paid box next to their name said no. I also love being able to use this function in the application of using a date. For example, if a date is past, then it can flag the date. This is useful when trying to meet deadlines and staying on a timeline. This tool can also be used to clean up your spreadsheet. For example if you want to clear all data from a certain date on, you can do that with the IF/THEN tool. My other favorite thing about this software is the ability to sort. This is especially useful when you have large amounts of data because it allows you to tailor what you want to see and it will only show the data you've selected while still having all the other data hidden. Turn the filters off and all your data is still there. When using these two favorites of mine in tandem you get even more use out of this software.

I feel like this software has a steep learning curve. I took an intermediate excel class and an advanced excel class in my workplace and those were extremely helpful to understand how this software works. I feel like anyone can jump into it and figure out very basic functionality of this software but to reach the full potential of excel some training is needed. Luckily there are a lot of great videos on YouTube where you can learn a lot on how to use excel!

Microsoft Excel - is one of the most complete and advance spreadsheet application currently on the market. The better question would be, what can't it accomplish as this is an application that is used across the board in many companies and careers. It has an awesome ribbon feature which houses many groups of frequently used tools and is super customizable. I doubt that there is any one person that can house all knowledge about this one application. Just to list a few of what can be done:

* Write basic, intermediate and advance formulas and functions to carry out your day to day work.
* Create basic, intermediate and advance conditional formatting to style your sheet and or highlight specific areas and or thing on the spreadsheet to draw focus.
* You can create your own custom group to house your own list of preferred tools to be available at your finger tips.
* It comes equipped with a quick access toolbar to hold frequently used tools right at the top of the sheet which is super easy to access and is something I use at all times while carrying out my day to day routines.
* I love the clean and improved UI [User Interface] version over version.
* It has collapsible tabs and commands to give you more screen real estate when working on small screen devices and or monitors.
* The Developer option is the go to tab when working with VBA and Marcos.
* It comes equipped with the option to record and or write macros using the VBA editor, allowing you to automate your work flow.

I am not able to think about a con at the moment with so many pros available.

When it comes to standard use (entering data and running calculations), there's not much to dislike except that Excel costs money if you're an individual or a business. Google Sheets does not, and Sheets added macro recording not long ago.

Neither Excel nor Google Sheets has what I would consider great customer service. I mean, there's a wealth of information online about either which gets you past most obstacles, but there's no one I've found to talk to about issues such as the one described below.

At some point recently, a pop-up message has begun showing up about Excel waiting for another application to complete an OLE request (or something similar). This stops my code in its tracks, and since the point of programming is to eliminate button clicks and manual oversight, it defeats the purpose. Based on my research, I see that the error is even popping up for users who are using Excel with no macros or VB code -- very frustrating, and the "simple" fixes suggested in some places have not worked for me or many others. (The same code triggering this messages still runs well on an older, slower machine. It doesn't make sense that Excel would have problems on a newer, faster PC.)

I use Excel to prepare monthly accounting reports. I love CSV files! You can pull all kinds of information from your accounting program into a CSV file, remove any unneeded information for your particular report, edit the content and change the formatting to make your reports look exactly how you want them to fairly quickly.

When you have several columns of numbers, you can put a formula in under the first column you want to add. Then copy that "total" cell and select the following columns that you also want to be totaled and paste it into the "total" row for each column at the same time and it automatically adds and inserts the total for each column.

The different formulas you can add to an Excel report are great and makes it easy to add totals for certain information; however, it is a little difficult to know the correct formulas and how to input them. I would like to have a reference guide listing various formulas and what they are for - the only lists I have found do not explain what each formula does. There could be a reference guide, but I have not found one yet.

Also, when you need to merge some cells and add text to the resulting cell, it would be nice if the cell height would automatically expand and shrink back down as the contents of the cell changes. I usually have to manually change the height, although not always, so there must be some trick to do that which I have not caught on to yet.

Microsoft Excel is truly amazing. I have used it for SO many things including the following:
-Creating simple lists or databases
-Utilizing more complex rules and formulas within my data
-Creating a TON of different type of charts and graphs for data analysis and reporting
These are definitely my top three favorite features and capabilities, and those that I use most frequently. In addition, everything can be customized to meet your needs and preferences in Excel as well. Fonts can be changed in size/type/color/style, cells can be highlighted, and charts and graphs can be customized in these same ways as well.

There is nothing I dislike about Excel, but I know that its capabilities are far beyond my knowledge and ability. It can seem complicated, but once you learn how to utilize all of its features, it can truly be an asset in so many ways. A personal goal of mine is to get some more training in that area so that I can take advantage of this software's capabilities to the full extent.

Sometimes you might need to record your business travel related expenses and time, to get reimbursed, but you don't have expensive software to track it online. Other times, you might want a quick chart, to explain a trend in some transaction data being measured. Yet other times, you might want to collaborate, to allow other users to update a spreadsheet in real-time without waiting for one user to finish, unlock, then notify the rest. Power users might want to use it's equation solver, such as for a curve fit to some data points. I had written VBA macros behind the scenes, to extract some data to a separate new page, perform calculations, and save a result on a network drive automatically. Excel 2019 is a rock solid performer that does not get stuck. For communicating out your typical company financial reports, Excel is the general industry standard.

I would like to see more flexibility to specify different types of curved line charts, bordering on the scientific. At times, making changes is less intuitive, such as when plotting multiple lines on the same chart with a moving average line, and with the kind of intervals and tick mark labels you want. If it just did a little more then I wouldn't need to export the data to something else (like Python) to do it the hard way.

The software is well-designed, accurate, precize and transparent. It is easy to manage and offers new opportunities all the time. It is doing its job very well. The application is very useful for me, I use it daily on both PC and Android device. Thanks to OneDrive, where I stop working on one device, I can continue on the other. I can easily work with it anywhere! That's great! It does its job on both Windows and Android. The modern version of Excel with its new built-in tools helps me get more out of my data. Available in all languages. Turn data into useful information. In spreadsheets, Excel is the best solution if you want to record a small amount of data in a variety of ways and look for relationships between them.
Even if you are unfamiliar with using database programs, Excel modules, formulas allow you to create complete databases, join multiple spreadsheets - even to a professional level for a statement, calculation task, and so on. Excel also benefits data miners because Pivot tables are very easy to handle and the Power Pivot module helps them a lot. And Power BI is deeply integrated with Excel, making direct publishing possible. The Help Center is very good, you can work with it step by step. Anyone can become a professional user of Excel with it (like me). I can only recommend.

Occasionally stops for a few seconds during editing. Many times it does not paste the formulas properly and moves the pasted text elsewhere. Sometimes it can process a 5-page document in 20 minutes. When you open a large file, it removes or does not display the entered formulas. Many times it freezes or crashes during the workflow of large files. Sometimes Excel opens in a different language and I always have to switch to my native language afterwards. Fonts are often confused. Excel cannot open two documents of the same name.
